I thought of this idea just to keep me writing, as I tend to read a lot more than I write, and I'm falling out of practice. Since I like to read, why don't I share reviews of what I've read? That way I can do both--read and write! yay!

Here is a general format that I will try to stick to, so that I don't go off on tangents, making short 30-40 minute exercises into hour-long things.

Sorting out MV

Yes, it's still us! I'm just experimenting with a few options to try to overcome the effect of those empty boxes with the red X. At the moment, I don't know how to get rid of the damn things, but I wondered whether changing the overall look of MV might help to minimise the effect of them and provide a bit more focus. This is a Yuku skin. Let me know what you think of it - don't panic if you DON'T like it - I can easily change it back to the old MV look or try another...

What's Your "Style?"

We were having a discussion on the SSIW side of things about writing outside your style for the anonymous rounds.

That got me to wondering what everyone thinks their style of writing is. I don't mean choice of topics, but style of writing. Here's what I wrote about my style, see if you agree and let us know what you think your style is.

I always start a story with a line of dialogue. My stories are generally pithy and dialogue driven rather than narrative....

Pics not Appearing on MV

Hello everyone! I just logged on here after being away for a while and I noticed that pictures were not loading for me... not even the forum icons or the MV banner (however, I *do* see avatars). All I see are the little red X's and the title and outline of the pic that ought to be there. Does anyone know what I might have done to my computer to make it act up?

Any help would be much-appreciated! Thanks!

Hi,

"Spread the Peanut Butter Thin", was my first book, published in 2007. It concerns my family and the hell of poverty that we lived thru in Central Illinois from 2001-2004. This is a great book for the current economic down turn we are experiencing. It is being used in two different colleges locally; The University of Illinois and Lincoln Land Community College, both in Springfield, Illinois.
