:ha Mike!

What about putting it out to air in the sun? The sun works well getting rid of mildew odours. Maybe it would work well for smoke too.

I sympathize, Gwen. When we moved in this house we spent the first while trying to get rid of all the evidence of heavy smoking as the lady was a chain smoker and so was her hubby who died of emphysema. Nasty habit! We still get whiffs of smoke when we open a velvet lined cupboard and we've lived here 16 years now.

My apologies to any smokers out there. My parents were both heavy smokers when I was a kid so I'm not fond of the habit. Hopefully I have the boys convinced not to start.

But this is another topic entirely. Aren't we doing a Heloise Helpline of sorts here? magazines.ivillage.com/goodhousekeeping/heloise

Sorry! Yappy as usual. Must be the coffee.
