Slip into Your Slot

Slip into your slot, she said,
slithering silent sounds
with beady eyes of red.
Slathering out the words she spread
not from her heart but from her head;
a kisser akin to rattlesnake skin
she hissed and feasted on
my demise, my end
reflecting in
her eyes

for it was her craft

and my life, after
all, was what
she was aft

Why she
felt this greed
to destroy me
that Ill never know.
Where was her gain
in my pain to toy me
that I can not show.

I was on a voyage
of discovery, not seeking
new landscapes but
having new eyes
for recovery.

Without intent
was it heaven sent?
I had
flipped
her switch
of surprise and
she was in no mood
to surmise that there could
be another way that there
would be a brand new day.

Take note of this;
youre not my kind!
Be a clone of me
or youre none
of mine!

Searching the map
to escape her trap
I flew to the new -
from red to blue -
and landed in
unknown,
the true

And there
I found
you!
