challenge: childhood occurrence

My teacher gave me an assignment I knew not how to do
And told me I had to figure it out all alone, too
Well, that didnt seem very logical to me
How could I figure it, I couldnt do ityou see?
But I tried my best, and missed a great deal
Eleven in twenty-one, guess how that made me feel
But then, my teacher asked that I see her, please
Id missed too much of what shouldve been a breeze
So I got a note home to my mom and dad
Telling them both of all the trouble Id had
Fractions were just not working out for me
It hurt me so much (how unfair it seemed to be)
I cried my eyes out in my mothers arms
The thought of that moment still vaguely alarms
I wanted to understand, and learn my math well
But, how could I do that with the teacher from ---
