The Gangle is Ready to Feast

Breathless we watched;
rapt in attention.
Excited, like children
we perceived our redemption.

The Gangle, it snorted
and thrashed with emotion
as Dr. Larris and I
watched in love and devotion.

Through time and through space
we had dragged it to Earth
by the magic of science
the Gangle was birthed.

Now understandably angry
it pawed at the ground
and looked for a scapegoat
a suitable object to pound.

Dr. Larris was so proud
Let me stand here beside it!
Take a picture for posterity
Maybe Ill even ride it!

I winced, not so sure.
The Gangle looked angry.
It was presently chewing
on a computer like it was candy.

Unheedful of danger
to the Gangle he strode
and with an arm round its shoulder
the great scientist posed.

As I lifted the camera
with unsteady hands
I did something unscientific
and thoroughly unplanned.

I prayed.

In one gulp he was gone,
glasses, shoes, coat and all.
Then the Gangle burped loudly
and ran gaily down the hall.

Now its safe in a cage
and the toast of the world.
Im a celebrity too,
loved by the young and the old.

Dr. Larris is gone.
I can feed the Gangle now. :bat2
